Postgraduate coursework study options
We offer three types of graduate coursework programs: Graduate Certificate, Master and Master (Advanced)
1. Graduate Certificate
A Graduate Certificate in Arts is a broad introductory qualification, usually completed over 1 or 2 semesters full-time. You can complete it as a freestanding qualification or as a pathway qualification into a Master degree.
Entry requirements: A Bachelor degree or international equivalent.
2. Master
A Master degree builds on your knowledge developed through undergraduate and honours degrees or graduate certificates, as well as relevant work experience. Master degrees are usually completed over 2 years full-time.
Entry requirements: Bachelor degree or international equivalent with an average mark of at least 65% and, for programs in the ANU School of Art, successful assessment of a portfolio of works. All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Diploma requirements. Applicants with a Bachelor degree or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 24 units (1 semester) of credit.
Applicants with a Bachelors Degree with Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 48 units (1 year) of credit.
3. Master (Advanced)
In this advanced option you complete a thesis instead of a semester of electives, which allows you to have a stronger research focus to your Master qualification.
Entry requirements: By transfer from the Master degree, with a weighted average mark of at least 70% in the first 72 units of coursework attempted as well as the approval of an identified supervisor for your research project/thesis.
